Public schools have devised a winter and spring vacation system, having one week of break in both February and April. Most private schools have one spring break in March, lasting two to three weeks. Both allow the students to have about an equal time off, but what is better depends only on your preference. I prefer the March break.
Obviously, downsides to both ways can be found by the students and school officials. Snow days interfere with a break in the winter. Sometimes, missing too many days of school causes time to be made up during the break. Even without having to make up for the time lost, many of the teachers and administrators in the school system believe that having a break in the winter makes it harder to teach the students. Repeating lessons multiple times to enforce the knowledge pushes the classes behind schedule. Having a break in April is not a problem.
For March break, usually the only complaints received are from the students. While the long break is welcome, they do not like the long stretch of school between the December break and March and from the end of March break to summer. Having months of school with only weekends can be tedious, but it makes the vacation time much more welcome. A long break in March offers a longer stretch to relax and more time to go away for vacations.
In the end, there isn’t much you can do about your school’s vacation schedule. Whatever it may be, you have to accept it and be thankful for the time away from school.

I like March break more because it’s a little more than two weeks long and when we get back from march break we only have two months left of school. It’s also better because long vacations are amazing because you cango on vacation and then come back and still relax.
| Posted 3 years, 1 month agoI think that having a march break is better than having two breaks because if we want to go away we can for a longer time. Also we don’t have that much longer after march vacation left of school so having another break could not be good for some students. I also think that having a vacation in March is better because if we want to go to the movies or somewhere there aren’t that many people there because they still have school.

If we had February and April vacation you cant even go away for more than a week. If your traveling somewhere far away to see family you won’t be able to spend much time with them.
| Posted 3 years, 1 month agoI like having the March break. The February and April breaks always start on a Monday that is a holiday. The March breaks also allow everyone to have a longer time to go away. The February and April breaks seem to go by too quickly. I like having the March break because I get to go away, but also have time to relax at home.
| Posted 3 years, 1 month agoI think having April and February vacation would be much better. Having two weeks in a row is fun but after a while it could get somewhat boring. With two weeks you can look forward to more vacations and they will feel more like several breaks during the year rather than just one break. Also, you have two opportunities to go on a vacation which would mean two different places, which is always fun (:
| Posted 3 years, 1 month agoI think that March break is much better. Since we are at a school where kids come from all over the world, it gives them more time back with their families. If we had one week off, in both February and April, they would have to pay for four airplane tickets and probably only have 10 days back with their families because of the flight. But with March break, they only have to pay for two airplane tickets and only fly two ways so they can have 12 days back with their families.
The only bad thing about March break is that we aren’t able to see our friends that go to public schools.
Overall, I think March break is much better because you have more time to go on a vacation.
| Posted 3 years, 1 month agoThe march break is much better, in my opinion. Instead of short breaks that fly by, we should have the two week march break. Febuary and April breaks are separated by almost two months of school. March is in the middle of december break and summer break, so it is well placed. Two weeks of break before finishing up the year. Anyway, we end on may 29 this year, so it not like the public schools who still have two- three more weeks.
| Posted 3 years, 1 month agoI agree. I think that the long stretch between Christmas break and March Spring Break was too long. I had some of my friends that had break but I couldn’t hang out with them because I had school. It would be better to have 1 week off in February and 1 week off in April. (1 week in March also would be good=]…) I hope that they decide to change the schedule for next years.

| Posted 3 years, 1 month agoI love the break in March because there is longer time to go away for a long distance trip. Attractions will probably be less crowded than it would be if everyone was out of school. It also gives us a lot of time to relax. However if you stay at home there are no friends around to play with, some are away or some are at school, because all the other schools get their breaks later and earlier in the year. However I would take March break over February and April breaks.

I agree with Riley, that March break makes it easier to travel especially since this is an international school where boarders like to go see their families. It also makes it easier for families who enjoy traveling and seeing the world. Although, their are a few not so great things about March break. For example, you cant always go see your friends if you stay in Massachusetts which makes it harder to make plans. I still can not chose between March break or February and April break.
| Posted 3 years, 1 month agoI think that March break is better than two breaks overall, but the are likes and dislikes about it. I like it because two short breaks just fly by and March break feels long and you feel like you have a nice long time to be able to relax. Also you can go to far away places and actually have some time there. Also that when break is over you only have two more months of school that just fly by.
I don’t like it because if you are not going on a vacation that you are going to be bored because most of your friends could be on vacation and your friends in public school are still at school. It’s also bad because the strech from December to March can be difficult because it’s the middle of the year and a lot of kids are a bit worn out, I also noticed that many kids were sick right before March from the long winter, but they would be able to recover over break!
Overall, in my opinion, the two week March break is much better than two one week break.
| Posted 3 years, 1 month agoI think that March break is better. If you have a week off in February you don’t exactly need it, coming back from December break a couple weeks before. If you want to go on vacation, you have more time to go relax on vacation and at home because you have a longer break. Since we get out of school almost a month earlier than our family and friends, April break would be pointless. The only not so good thing about March break is that all our friends are in school when we are on vacation and we are in school during their vacation.
| Posted 3 years, 1 month agoI think that March break is much better because you get more time to go on vacation. Some students need to go back to their families from Japan, China, and many other places. It wouldn’t be fair that kids who commute daily get to have smaller breaks, because they already see their parents almost everyday. Boarding students would only get 5 days if February and April break were 1 week long, and I don’t think that any parents or kids would want to stay apart that long at this age. That is why I think that we should keep March break the way it is.

I also think it is better because you will be able to visit your families two times instead of one. It is also spaced out, and not at the same time. You can also have more vacations to go on instead of just one. I personally think February and April break is much better than March Break.
| Posted 3 years, 1 month agoI personally think that March Break is better because no one is traveling then, and you can go to lots of places cheap. Also, it’s a whole two weeks so you can just relax and forget about school for a bit (not entirely though, but, you know what I mean).
